Coding (ICSM): Co-President

Hi, I'm Yamid, and I'm running for Coding Co-President of the ICSM Coding Society. My goal is simple: to make coding more accessible, more exciting, and more relevant to our lives as future doctors.

First, I want to make sure the society is genuinely welcoming to beginners. Not everyone arrives with a technical background, and that's fine — I want to build an environment where picking up coding for the first time feels approachable and supported, not intimidating.

I also want to refresh our existing R and Python courses to make them more broadly useful. I'd like to update them so the skills translate across a wider range of projects and use cases, whether that's research, data analysis, automation, or creating startups.

Beyond that, I want to grow what the society actually does throughout the year. More hackathons, more events, more chances to build things and meet people — a society that feels alive across all three terms, not just at the start of the year.

Finally, I want to bring the content closer to where medicine is actually going. AI, medtech, and clinical data science are reshaping healthcare, and I think the society should reflect that — through speaker events, hackathons, and resources that helps us understand how these skills will matter in our careers.

If that sounds like the society you want to be part of, I'd really appreciate your vote.
