Akshat Sharma
I am running for the role of Gastro & Hep General Executive because I have a deep and genuine interest in gastroenterology and hepatology, built on a strong academic and research background. I have previously published papers in gastro and hep, which has given me valuable insight into current evidence, research practice, and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams. I plan to undertake a BSc in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, allowing me to bring up-to-date, evidence-based knowledge into the events and teaching I organise. If elected, I aim to deliver and organise regular, structured teaching sessions covering core clinical topics and case based discussions relevant to gastro and hep, in a way that is engaging, clinically useful, and accessible to students at all levels. I am particularly keen to organise a Gastro & Hep Conference, and with my previous experience helping to run conferences with vision I am sure I can offer high-yield talks, workshops, and opportunities for students to present research or posters, supported by my existing contacts with clinicians, academics, and industry partners. Through these connections, I will work to create networking opportunities, career insight events, and potential openings for students to get involved in audits, QI projects, and research. I am committed and enthusiastic about using my experience and network to build a vibrant, inclusive, and academically rich gastro and hep community, and I would be honoured to serve as your Gastro & Hep General Executive.
