Akshat Sharma
I am running for the role of Gastro & Hep Secretary because I have a deep and long-standing interest in gastroenterology and hepatology, backed by a strong academic and research background. I have published papers in gastro and hep, which has strengthened my understanding of the evidence base and given me experience within academic and clinical teams skills that are directly transferable to the secretary role. I have been part of Vision committee as medical school liason where I have helped with lots of administration work and planning. I am planning to undertake a BSc in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, which will further enhance my knowledge and enable me to support the committee in delivering high-quality, evidence-based events and initiatives. As Gastro & Hep Secretary, I would ensure that the society’s activities are well-coordinated and efficiently run, from advertising teaching sessions and managing sign-ups to keeping members updated and gathering feedback to improve what we offer. I am particularly enthusiastic about supporting the organisation of a Gastro & Hep Conference, using my contacts in the specialty and industry to help with coordinating with speakers and ensuring that students have opportunities to present their work. I am organised, proactive and am committed to using my experience and passion for gastro and hep to support the team and help create a welcoming and academically stimulating environment as your Gastro & Hep Secretary.
