Riya Sharma

Hi, my name is Riya, and I’m a second year medical student. I’m running for treasurer to ensure this society has the financial stability and strategic planning needed to continue delivering high quality events, expand opportunities, and grow sustainably.

Through my experience in roles such as events officer for Hindu society, I have developed practical experience in ensuring initiatives are both ambitious and financially feasible as well as planning budgets. These are skills I hope to apply in Gastroenterology & Hepatology society.

As treasurer, my main focus will be seeking sponsorships and external funding to enhance the quality and scale of our events, while also lowering prices for students. I would prioritise transparency in financial reporting so members can clearly follow fund allocation, and aim to support student engagement by allocating resources towards research opportunities and conferences.
