I’m Yusuf, a first-year chemical engineering student. History has always been more than a hobby, and I still sometimes wonder whether I should have majored in a social science instead when engineering gets too hard. I realised there are a lot of people like me who shares the same passion for all things history related in my time in history society, and I enjoyed my time joining the events this year.
I’m running for Events Officer role because I want the History Society to be a more active and visible club in imperial, with greater participation in its events. This will help socialise people even more and help us share our knowledge inbetween ourselves, and build a sense of community to make History Society one of the long-standing "old" clubs in Imperial in the future.
I will organise a mix of talks, museum trips, historical film nights, guest lectures, quiz nights and informal socials so there’s something for everyone. What I particularly want to focus on is to make more collabrations with other societies in Imperial to draw more attention to History Society. This could both include collabs with STEM societies where we'll examine the history of major discoveries and inventions, and cultural societies to examine the histories of different regions and identities.
As Events Officer, I will be the one who organises events like the Assassins’ Game again this year with hopefully even wider participation.
I’d be grateful for your support and your vote for Events Officer!
