Hi, my name is Arafat, a first-year medical student, and I am running to be your Treasurer.
My journey into medicine is driven by a deep passion for MedTech and innovation. I strongly believe the future of healthcare relies on combining clinical care with innovative technological solutions. This drive pushed me to become a hands-on builder - in the past year I’ve taken part in two MedTech hackathons, and have developed my own AI ed-tech software. Having spent this past year on the committee as Social Media Officer, I’ve seen the incredible potential of Imperial MedTech and the community we've built.
However, I've learned firsthand that great innovation requires sustainable backing. I am well-equipped for the financial responsibilities of this role because I have real-world experience managing budgets for live projects. Through launching my own digital tools, I’ve handled end-to-end financial modeling and payment integrations like Stripe. I know exactly how to balance a budget to ensure an initiative remains affordable for students while operating sustainably.
Crucially, I don’t view the Treasurer as a background role confined to the numbers. I want to use my practical experience to actively help our team organize and execute our flagship hackathons and speaker events. My main goals are to streamline our internal accounting for faster event funding, and to strictly manage our budget to keep ticket prices low, ensuring our events remain highly accessible as we scale our ambitions.
