Methlinie Dasanayake
Hi! I’m Methlinie, a 2nd year medic, and I’m excited to be running for Head of Outreach for the Cardiovascular Society.
I have a strong interest in cardiology and would love the opportunity to contribute more actively to a society that brings together students who share this passion. I’m particularly interested in outreach and inspiring younger students to explore medicine and cardiovascular science.
Alongside my studies, I have supported younger students with their medical school applications, including running sessions on interview preparation, research presentations, and medical ethics discussions. Through this, I have developed strong communication, organisation, and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to present complex ideas in an engaging and accessible way.
As Head of Outreach, I would aim to strengthen the society’s connections with schools and prospective students by organising engaging outreach sessions that introduce cardiovascular science and provide insight into studying medicine. I would also work closely with the committee to help expand the society’s reach and ensure outreach initiatives complement the society’s wider events.
I would be honoured to contribute my enthusiasm and experience to the Cardiovascular Society and help inspire the next generation of students interested in medicine and cardiology.
Thank you for reading my manifesto, and I hope you’ll consider voting for me!
