Hi! I’m Akshita, a second-year medic and I am running for Academic Officer!

As Academic Officer, I aim to:

• Launch an ICSM Dermatology Conference - I aim to establish a dedicated student conference to showcase research and invite inspiring keynote speakers. This would strengthen dermatology’s academic presence within ICSM and create a space for meaningful discussion.
• Deliver a structured teaching series on Dermatology subspecialties - organising focused sessions would highlight the breadth and diversity of the field, including subspecialities like paediatric dermatology, immunology and surgical dermatology.
• Strengthen academic support - dermatology is often overlooked due to limited teaching time, yet the specialty can feel conceptually complicated. I will organise clear, structured tutorials to clarify BRS content and support clinical teaching.
• Introduce expert panel talks - I would love to invite clinicians, researchers, and professionals in MedTech and pharmaceuticals to share honest insights into training pathways, academic careers and innovation. These sessions would give members practical advice, networking opportunities, and a clearer vision of how they might shape their own future in dermatology.
