Basically the job is just to run the Instagram, and I think we could be doing a lot more with it. Right now the page is honestly not that exciting, which is peak because Taekwondo itself definitely is. If I’m publicity officer I’ll keep it active, post people’s competition results properly, and make edits/highlights that show what the sport actually looks like, sparring exchanges, big kicks, crazy moments. I also think when we post competition results, the slide announcing medalists should actually feature the people who won those medals. Bronze is still a great achievement, but if people win gold and don’t even get a photo on the medal slide, that doesn’t really make sense to me. The page should represent the whole club. We do actually have more than a handful of members. And yes, before the poomsae people come for me, I’ll post a bit of patterns as well. But if someone’s thinking about joining, they shouldn’t just see dry posts with random Taylor Swift music over them, they should see what Taekwondo actually looks like i.e. tornado kicks being blasted at people’s heads.
