Guillaume Felix
Hi all!
I’m Guillaume, running for European Society Vice-President.
I am one of the original co-founders of the society, and I served as its first Vice-President before stepping down last year to accommodate my role as Editor-in-Chief of Felix.
I created EuroSoc to give international students a place to socialise in additional to Imperial’s (occasionally chauvinist) national societies, and also because I think Europe as a political entity is becoming increasingly relevant. My vision for this society is for it to be half entertaining, and half informative.
On the fun side, we could organise:
- Language cafés: socials where you can practise the languages you know and those you wish to learn
- Cultural trips: movies, plays… and even trips abroad!
- Debate competitions
- Pub or club nights with other national societies from Imperial, or European Societies from other universities
On the more informative side:
- Visits to European and national institutions, including delegations and embassies
- Panels and conferences, on themes such as entrepreneurship in Europe
- Drafting policy and acting like a think-tank, jointly with other unis
- Acting as a hub to relay events from other national European societies
Imperial College is located on a continent where, in general, democracy, free speech, rule or law and human rights are (currently) thriving, but these are not things we should take for granted. The European Society should be a place for all of those who share these values, regardless of citizenship or political belief.
This society still has so much potential, let’s give it a chance!
