Oncology: Vice-President

From the first year of medical school, my interest in oncology has grown, particularly in neuro-oncology. Like many of you, I began as an Oncology Society member and enthusiast. Over the past year, I have had the privilege of serving on the Oncology Society subcommittee, helping to organise our biweekly journal club and supporting the delivery of our annual oncology conference. Working behind the scenes has shown me the real impact we can have in creating engaging, high-quality academic opportunities for our members.

As Vice President, I hope to build on the strong foundations of our society by expanding opportunities for members to explore the wide range of oncology subspecialties.

I am committed to continuing and developing our annual conference and biweekly journal club, ensuring they showcase the diversity of careers and innovations within oncology. I would also love to introduce a mentorship scheme connecting students with oncologists and trainees who can provide guidance on career pathways, application processes, and research involvement. Creating accessible research opportunities, especially for students in their early academic years, would be a key priority.

Alongside academic development, I believe in creating a supportive and enjoyable community. I would work to organise engaging social events that bring members together and strengthen our network.

I am enthusiastic, proactive, and dedicated to helping our society grow academically and socially. I would be honoured to serve as your Oncology Vice President.
