The BSc year is a unique opportunity to develop lots of new skills. I’ve really enjoyed the RDS BSc, but I know how difficult it can be to navigate the different pieces of coursework, the independent study and the pace at which you have to learn these new skills. That’s why I want to help ensure next year’s cohort feels well supported and able to make the most of their BSc experience.
As personnel officer for the ICOGS Conference this year and as Secretary for Friends of MSF, I have been able to develop strong organisational and communication skills. I recognise the importance of timely communication and planning ahead, especially when working with older-year students to deliver tutorials. Having clear organisation and backup plans will ensure tutorials run reliably, meaning students can depend on them as a consistent source of support.
As BSc coordinator, I would like to:
-
Continue the RDS buddy scheme, hoping to maintain the same level of support for next year’s cohort.
-
Continue current ICA tutorials and organise additional skill-specific tutorials (e.g. Graphpad) for students who might need extra support
-
Regularly check in with students using groupchats and respond to any questions, especially around submission deadlines.
-
Create an accessible document linking students with previous BSc students who have done lab, clinical or data analysis projects with specific supervisors, helping them make informed choices.
I’m excited to help make the BSc year as stress-free and enjoyable as possible, so I would really appreciate your vote! Thank you :)
