Obstetrics & Gynaecology: Education Officer

Hi, I’m Anika, a second-year medical student, and I would love to be the ICOGS Education Officer! I am passionate about creating engaging, inclusive and high-quality academic opportunities for members whilst ensuring sessions are accessible to students at all levels of interest in O&G. Having attended the ICOGS conference and presented a poster, as well as attending journal clubs, I understand the value of well-structured academic events in building confidence, knowledge and professional networks. These experiences strengthened my my ability to engage with both peers and professionals.

My previous roles have equipped me with essential organisational and teamwork skills. As a POM tutor, I have demonstrated dedication to supporting students academically, alongside flexibility and effective time management. Through the MWF sponsorship subcommittee, I liaised with external sponsors, developing strong professional communication skills and working collaboratively within a committee structure. These roles reflect my reliability and strong work ethic, which I would bring to the Education Officer position.

If elected, I would work closely with the committee to design a varied academic programme, including journal clubs with professional speakers, career pathway talks, research presentation opportunities and practical workshops. I would collaborate with sponsorship and conference leads to coordinate abstracts and maintain high academic standards, while promoting events widely to increase engagement. I would also introduce a regular newsletter and explore initiatives such as speed mentoring to further enrich members’ academic experience. Overall, my aim would be to foster an organised, inclusive and inspiring academic environment within the society.
