One Small Step for Woman, One Giant Leap for Women’s Health!
Hello! My name is Sumaiya and I am currently a first year medic with a budding interest in women’s health - particularly in raising awareness, a great starting point for a role in publicity! I have been fascinated by women’s health since I decided that I wanted to study Medicine so many years ago. After attending my first ICOGS conference just recently, I knew I just had to give committee a shot - I felt so welcomed and a part of a wider community of women’s health advocacy, and the desire to make others feel the same way has persisted since.
I pride myself in my organisational skills, so you can definitely rely on me to be consistent with posting updates on what is going on in the society. I also currently run my own TikTok account on which I document my medicine journey - providing me with some experience with social media platforms that ICOGS has not yet reached (hopefully it will soon!) I hope to make the society more known to students as well as sharing information about women’s health.
I aspire to make great leaps for women’s health awareness by being your ICOGS Publicity Officer for the upcoming year, and to let women know that they are welcomed, respected and are not ‘ovary-acting’ (see what I did there 😉) when it comes to their health!
