Akshara Suresh
Hello everyone, I’m Akshara, and I am running to be your National Conference Lead for SORA.
Having worked on this year’s Young Researchers’ Conference and having contributed to organising six conferences this year, while serving across nine different committees and subcommittees, I have developed extensive experience in large-scale event planning and coordination. Combined with my familiarity with recruiting speakers, developing workshops, securing sponsorships, and expanding outreach, I am well equipped to make next year’s conference a continued success.
Through collaborating with King’s on another society initiative this year, I have also gained valuable experience in inter-university partnerships and coordination.
While maintaining the high standard and success of recent years, I hope to bring further novel ideas to refine, expand, and elevate the conference:
My Aims:
- Promote National Collaboration: I aim to strengthen partnerships with wider research organisations, such as the NMRA etc., to broaden outreach, diversify speakers even further, and increase national engagement.
- Define Clear Subcommittee Roles: By appointing dedicated publicity officers and introducing a Year 1 representative, we can improve engagement, strengthen communication within year groups, and ensure responsibilities are clearly structured within the team.
- Diverse speaker/ panel profile: I will continue to ensure there are diverse speakers and panelists, similarly to previous years, to ensure we promote the breadth of research and academia.
I am committed to ensuring this year's conference is even more impactful and builds upon its success over the past years. I would truly appreciate your vote. Thank you for your support!
