Vote Shriyans for MathSoc Webmaster
Who am I?
I’m Shriyans, a first-year Computing student, and I’m running for MathSoc Webmaster to make our digital systems more thoughtful, fair, and genuinely student-focused. I don’t just want to maintain what we have, I want to meaningfully improve it.
What will I do for you?
First, I want to improve the Mums & Dads pairing algorithm.
Pairings shouldn’t feel random and clouded behind "algorithms" and randomness. I’ll prioritise pairing JMCs with JMCs where possible, so students are matched with mentors who truly understand their course structure and workload. I’ll also work toward a fairer gender balance across families, creating a more comfortable and representative support system for everyone.
Beyond that, I’ll refine how preferences are weighted to reduce mismatches and make the system more transparent, while keeping it simple and efficient.
Second, I’ll revive work on MathsWiki. I know the project hasn't been worked on for a long time, and it shows on some of the pages. What I want to do is fix all the issues you have when viewing this, and improve your experience when studying for an exam.
I’ll also:
-
Improve how academic and careers resources are structured
-
Make event and opportunity information easier to find
-
Create a clearer system for students to contribute and suggest improvements
Why me?
I care about building systems that genuinely improve your experience. As Webmaster, I’ll listen, iterate, and build a web presence that truly works for you.
Vote Shriyans.
