Gazette: Academic Editor

Hi Everyone! I'm Amna, a third-year medical student, and I'm running for Academic Editor.

Over the past year, I've had the privilege of working as Academic Editor for the Gazette and seeing firsthand how much potential our academic section has, and how it can be enhanced to further help the students in their academic journeys. Now, I want to build on that experience to make it even stronger.

As Academic Editor, I will:

  • Strengthen and encourage student voices by working on thoughtful and construcitve feedback which improves clarity while maintaining each writer's unique perspectives.
  • Enhance readability and structure, ensuring complex ideas are communicated clearly and effectively as well as producing guides and blogs that will aid our students' university decisions and experience.
  • Expand topics diversity by encouraging contributions from a wider range of interests and academic fields - medicine is broad and Gazette is the best way to reflect that through our articles and blogs.
  • Introduce and refine reader engagement, making it more interesting and engaging so the academic section evolves with what the students and the alumni want to read.

With my recent experience of editorial responsibility, I understand how important efficiency, clarity and communication are. I'm committed to maintain a smooth, supportive process that will empower our new and current writers.

I'd love your support to continue improving and shaping the academic section into something that represents the best of our student community!
