Jakob Slater-Morris
Hi everyone!
My name is Jakob, and I’m running to be your Chair of Pint of Science for the 2026-27 academic year.
This year, I’ve had the privilege of serving as one of the two Imperial College Event Co-ordinators. In this role, I recruited and supported our event management teams who deliver the fantastic events, and acted as the main point of communication between the London Chapter managers and the UK team. This has given me a strong understanding of the festival’s structure at both a local and national level, and insight into how effective coordination and clear communication underpin a successful festival.
Through this experience, I’ve developed skills in leadership, delegation, and strategic oversight - ensuring teams feel supported, informed, and confident in delivering their events.
Alongside this, I’ve worked extensively with Imperial College Union in a variety of roles between 2021-2024. These experiences have given me a solid understanding of how the Union operates, how to navigate its processes efficiently, and how to ensure societies are well-supported and run smoothly.
As Chair, I would aim to:
-
Strengthen communication between the committee, event teams, and the wider Pint of Science network
-
Ensure management teams feel well-supported and clearly guided throughout the planning process
-
Increase student engagement and participation across departments
-
Build on this year’s successes to make next year’s festival even stronger
I would love the opportunity to combine my leadership experience, organisational understanding, and enthusiasm for science communication to lead the society next year.
Thank you for your support!
