Hi, my name is Goh Suen Yean, a first year Chemical Engineering student, and I’m running as your Treasurer.
Through my active involvement in Imperial societies, I understand how the Union operates and the importance of transparency, compliance, and teamwork. Additionally, working as a cashier at a bookstore gave me hands-on experience handling money responsibly. Managing daily transactions, balancing tills, and ensuring accuracy strengthened my attention to detail, accountability, and integrity — qualities essential for a Treasurer. Being trusted with financial responsibility in a professional setting gives me a practical advantage in managing society funds carefully and reliably.
If elected, I will:
- Create a clear, realistic budget at the start of the year, with regular financial updates.
- Proactively secure sponsorships and partnerships to strengthen our funding.
- Monitor expenses carefully to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Work closely with all sub-teams to allocate funds strategically.
- Plan finances at least 9 months in advance to anticipate major costs and secure key bookings.
My aim is not just to manage funds, but to empower TEDxImperial to think boldly while remaining financially responsible.
