Eloi Chaptal de Chanteloup
Hey, I’m Eloi! I’m a second year Ecology and Environmental Biology student interested in conservation, running for Head Apiarist at ESoc. This role was vacant for the last couple years, and I intend to refresh it by focusing on wild bees, which are threatened by competition from domestic bees and habitat loss.
Our garden has a pond, which is already very good for bees, and it would be great to build upon this foundation to make it even more welcoming for our winged friends.
Those are some of the things I’d like to do next year:
- Planting local flowers to support wild pollinators
- Building insect hotels for solitary bees
- Preserving existing nesting environments in the garden
- Raising awareness about wild pollinators through activities such as insect photography in the garden!
I have experience with bees, as I’ve already taken care of beehives back home and built insect hotels for wild bees. I’ve been a regular participant in Environmental Society’s Secret Garden this year and have had a great time with everyone here. I’d be delighted to help our wild pollinators with your support!
