Women in SET: President

Hi, I’m T-Yan, a third-year Materials with Nuclear Engineering student, and I’m running to be your next President of Women in SET.

Over the past three years, I have served on three committees in Imperial (with a range of roles) and interned across a robotics AI start-up, an engineering firm, and a consulting firm, allowing me to see STEM from technical to commercial perspectives. Women in SET bridges science, engineering, technology and business, and I want to strengthen that bridge and introduce as many opportunities as possible. Above all, I want to cultivate a supportive community where members are connected and inspired to pursue their ambitions together.

As President, I will focus on four key pillars.

1. Sponsorship Opportunities
I aim to deepen relationships with existing partners while securing new ones across engineering, techology, finance, and consulting, creating tangible internship, mentorship, and insight opportunities.

2. Collaborations
By strengthening our existing partnerships and building new ones, we can expand our reach and create interdisciplinary conversations and opportunities across the various fields.

3. Events
Having a balanced mix of events, from technical panels and skills workshops to the annual IWD dinner and informal networking, would ensure that our members gain exposure, practical confidence and connections.

4. Community
Beyond careers, Women in SET should be a space where members feel supported, encouraged, and inspired and I will work closely with the committee to plan many fun socials.

I hope to make Women in SET more than society you attend, but also a network you grow with :)
