Mechanical Engineering: Industrial Liaison

Hello, I am Kyojin and I’m a 2nd year Mechanical Engineering student running for the Industrial Liaison position of MechSoc!

We all know how desolate the current job market is, let alone the difficulty of finding a single internship for the summer.

That’s where I can help you as the MechSoc Industrial Liaison!

Industrial exposure, connections and experiences are the key to improving your employability and that’s where MechSoc comes in!

If I am elected, I will aim to meet the following three objectives:

1. Build long-term relationships with companies

You may have noticed how industrial giants appear once in Career events, etc. and disappear for the entire academic year, making it difficult to gather networking opportunities. Rather than one-off events, I aim to establish lasting relationships with companies (especially start-ups) that can provide recurring support and collaboration opportunities.

2. Improve accessibilities to opportunities

Although the MechEng department provides some opportunities, they are often open with very few positions. I aim to help as many MechEng students as possible from all years, by hopefully bringing in more partnerships and projects to MechSoc!

3. Increase diversity in industry engagement

As we all know, our MechEng course is the most diverse in engineering, being favoured by many different industries. To support our course’s unique advantage, I hope to bring in founders from start-ups in diverse industrial sectors for talks, technical workshops and project opportunities.

We can bring more industrial opportunities to MechEng with your support through voting for me!

Thank you!
