Zainab Mahmood
General Practice (ICSM): Secretary
I am standing for Secretary of GP Society because general practice represents the heart of medicine, and I want to help build a community that reflects its impact. As a medical student, my GP placement was one of the most inspiring experiences of my training. I was struck by the continuity of care, the depth of patient relationships, and the breadth of clinical knowledge required every single day. It showed me how powerful holistic, community-focused medicine can be, and inspired me to want to pursue being a GP, and show people how interesting it can be.
I bring strong organisational skills, attention to detail and clear communication to the table. Through medical school, I have balanced academic work with teamwork and leadership roles as part of other societies, developing reliability and time management that are essential for an effective secretary. I am confident in managing correspondence, coordinating events, and ensuring smooth communication between committee members and the wider members of the society.
I am motivated, approachable, and genuinely passionate about general practice. As Secretary, I will work to keep our society organised, inclusive, and proactive in promoting the value of GP careers.
