Hi guys! My name is Ohemaa and I'm currently a second-year ChemEng Student.
When I first started the course, I was truly drawn to the myriad of disciplines our degree prepares us for. Since then, I have become very passionate in illuminating these opportunities so that we can all get a lot of exposure to our many options upon graduation. I would love to broaden my reach in this role.
As Industrial Relations and Sponsorship Officer, I would love to collaborate with the committee to diversify the professional development opportunities that ChemEngSoc offers. I want to broaden our reach to cover more niche sectors like cosmetics, consumer goods and specialty chemicals while also maintaining our current industrial relationships. I will also diligently keep our sponsors engaged and would love to work towards a new avenue of signposting companies to a ChemEng talent pool where students can benefit from exclusive access to further career enhancing experiences.
I find that my extroverted nature and interest in many different aspects across the course makes me well suited to this role as I am unafraid to contact new and interesting companies on the departments behalf. I will make an active effort to seek out opportunities in mentorship, site visits and interview guidance for us all to benefit from as well as talks (with free pizza and merch (: xx ) from experienced chemical engineers who make a difference in the world.
