Dhruv Pramod Kattel
Hi, I’m Dhruv, and I’m running for Surgical Society Secretary.
I have served as the Fresher’s Representative for both SORA and the Neuro Society, and I've attended eight surgical conferences since September. As a fresher, the educative yet enjoyable experience of attending the multiple conferences has sparked my desire to step up and take on a more active organising role.
I believe the role of Secretary is perfectly suited to me as I am a structured, detail-oriented thinker who’s dependable under pressure and thrives when entrusted with responsibility. As Secretary, I would aim to augment the surgical society’s reach, enhance its administrative capabilities, and coordinate the organization of events. I would achieve this by focusing on :
1. A Well-Structured Monthly Newsletter
A monthly newsletter, similar to the ICSMSU mail, that lists all upcoming events of the Surgical Society in order to provide students with a clearer overview, reduce reliance on repeated WhatsApp reminders, and minimise the risk of important announcements overlooked within busy groupchats.
2. Streamlined Communication & Administration
By creating more streamlined workflow processes, we can ease the operational and administrative burden on the committee and ensure that events are delivered smoothly at a high standard.
3. Elevating Conference Formats with Greater Interactivity
Having attended eight conferences and contributed to the organisation of two, I’ve gained valuable insight into what distinguishes a good conference from a truly engaging one. I would advocate for the incorporation of more interactive elements to encourage active participation rather than passive listening.
