Hi, my name is Sofia and I am in 3rd year.
I’ve been involved with Surg Soc since second year, first on subcommittee and later on the Trauma Conference team. I’ve experienced the early mornings, the late nights, and the work behind the scenes that keeps the society going.
I’m running for Treasurer because I care about the society’s role in creating some of the best student surgical conferences in the UK, and I want to give back to the opportunities I’ve had by helping things run smoothly on the financial side (but I can’t promise I’ll ever enjoy 6am starts for conferences).
I value structure and clear systems, and I’m comfortable working with spreadsheets and managing budgets. I’ve done this before in groups outside university, and I take the responsibility seriously.
If elected, I will keep our finances clear, make sure SurgSoc’s GenExecs are confident in their budgets, and ensure claims are handled properly so no one is left waiting to be reimbursed. I want your money management to feel straightforward and predictable.
