Gliding: Publicity

If you’ve ever been on a trip in the last few years, chances are we’ve already met — probably in Lasham at an unholy hour of the morning, holding a wing, towing a glider, or discussing whether the forecast is “promising” or “optimistically delusional.”

I’ve spent three years flying and two years on committee, so I understand both the air and the admin. I’m running for Captain because I care deeply about where this club is heading — ideally upward, consistently, and safely.

Here’s what I’m committing to:

1. Accessibility for Everyone
Gliding should not feel exclusive. Regardless of your identity, gender, background, or experience level, this club should feel like yours. I will work to create more financially accessible pathways so that more people can learn to fly at reduced cost.

2. Stronger Public Presence
We fly literal aircraft. We should not be a hidden secret. I want better outreach, clearer communication, and more visibility so new members know exactly why joining us is the best decision they’ll make at university.

3. Safety that Prevents Grounded Weeks
In previous years, frequent minor incidents led to costly repairs and cancelled trips. I will prioritise tighter safety processes, clearer accountability, and stronger training culture — fewer repairs, more airtime.

4. Bring Back Winter & Easter Trips
Because flying shouldn’t be seasonal. Let’s revive winter and Easter trips and make them highlights of the year again.

If you want steady leadership, safer operations, and a club that feels open and ambitious — I’d love your vote.
