Motivation
Hello all! I am Calvin Eu, a first-year chemist hoping to be your secretary for the next academic year.
Since joining ICUMS, I admired how smoothly the society operates, which reflects the dedication of the committee behind the scenes. As Secretary, I would be honoured to give back to a community that has supported me, ensuring future cohorts feel welcomed, included, and supported from their first interaction.
Skills
- As a STEM student, I have developed strong attention to detail and clear analytical skills, which are essential for accurate documentation and communication.
- My experience in hospitality has strengthened my professionalism, adaptability, and ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments, while leading and training teams has enhanced my leadership and organisational skills.
- Through roles as a prefect and student council member, I have further developed teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities, and I value collaboration and continuous improvement within a committee.
Initiatives
To improve engagement and communication, I propose these initiatives:

Shared Outlook Calendars to centralise event information, allow reminders, and reduce missed deadlines.

A streamlined newsletter format featuring a colour-coded “Upcoming Events” section for clearer visibility and easier calendar integration.

Monthly feedback forms via Qualtrics to gather actionable insights and continuously refine events based on member input.
- Transparency, I aim to circulate meeting minutes after each OGM and AGM and create a shared archive to promote transparency, showcase ICUMS’ achievements, and inspire members to contribute ideas for future improvements and events
