Chinese Students & Scholars Association: Chief Secretary

Dear fellow students,

I’m Apollo Yang, and I’ve just completed a full term as CSSA Chief Secretary. I’ve seen both what CSSA can do when we work together—and how quickly trust breaks when processes are unclear. This year, I’m running again because CSSA urgently needs openness, discipline, and a calmer way of working.

If elected as Chief Secretary, I will:

  • Make CSSA open by default: publish member-facing action lists after committee meetings; keep a clear archive of decisions, budgets, and event outcomes.

  • Say no to grey areas: standardise approvals, reimbursements, and sponsorship documentation; ensure everything follows ICU rules and the CSSA constitution.

  • Protect fair elections: clear timelines, nomination guidance, and equal access to information—so elections are normal, not messy.

  • Rebuild internal cohesion: weekly coordination during peak event periods, clean handovers, and role clarity so departments stop drifting.

  • Improve student outreach: one official channel for announcements + a simple feedback form with guaranteed replies.

A Chief Secretary’s job is not to look busy—it’s to make the society run cleanly and reliably. I’m ready to do that work.

Sincerely,
Apollo Yang
