Carmen Jurado Boedo

Spanish & Latin American: Secretary

Hi! I’m Carmen. I’m from Seville and lived my whole life in Spain until last year, when I moved to London to study Biomedical Engineering at Imperial. After almost two years away from home, I’ve experienced what it means to be Spanish abroad. I know the importance of finding a place where we feel understood here, far from home. For me, the Spanish Society has been exactly that. That’s why, after two years as a member, I want to join the committee and make sure it keeps being that comfort place it has been for us all.

Throughout my life, I’ve been actively involved in my school’s student councils, which helped me understand how important it is to bring people together and create an environment where every member of our community feels heard. I also have lots of ideas to help our society continue being the home away from home it has been so far — from flamenco classes to tapas competitions and Spanish bar crawls.

As Secretary, I’m committed to listening to your ideas, organising events that bring us closer together, and making sure Spanish culture becomes a bridge that connects us all.

So, if you want someone who knows what it’s like to miss a plate of jamón and who will always bring energy and enthusiasm to making this society a special place, here I am. Vote for me and let’s make this a society we’ll always want to come back to.

Hope to see you next year!
