Rex Weber-Brown

Hello, I am Rex. You know me as your Social Secretary, a role I’ve thoroughly enjoyed, and which has taught me a new set of skills I hope to bring to the role of Treasurer.

But first, some truths:

This sport isn’t cheap: the kit, the travel, the equipment, plus we live in London which makes everything even more expensive. As your Treasurer, I would make our Student Union grant and self-generated membership income work harder to deliver everything we need. And I would use my contacts to ensure the up-coming venue-changes for our iconic TOGA and the annual dinner deliver better value.

As Social Sec I’ve already been managing finances: sorting costumes, chasing reluctant Black Swan dressed payees, negotiating Brewdog (RIP) refunds, selling just under 200 TOGA tickets and raising some hefty revenue into its fund. I even delivered a successful pub quiz when that fund ran aground harder than the Chatwin 4+.

As Treasurer I’ll maintain our financial stability through effective planning and costs reduction. I propose finding cheaper suppliers for blazers and much better value for the annual dinner without compromising on fun. My “I Love Spreadsheets” socks don’t lie.

I also understand the importance of good communications and transparency, and will make sure all ICBC members are kept in the loop on how and where their money is being spent.

I am ready to be the breath of fresh Treasurer air this club needs.
