Hi everyone, my name is Sunny! I am a first year student studying Biological Sciences, and I'm running for the position of ABACUS President. Within the committee, the role of President requires one to be a quick and decisive thinker, unafraid to put their foot down and be secure in their judgement. But within the wider context of this UK-based society, being the President means bearing the responsibility to ensure that everyone who joins ABACUS is safe and enjoying themselves at all events.
What am I going to do as President?
My top 3 manifesto objectives are:
- Setting up a wider variety of lively, communal activities so anyone can be a part of ABACUS
- Continue the ABACUS legacy as the leading UK society for international students to find entertainment and reconnect with their culture while abroad
- Promote and celebrate Chinese culture with unique events
Why am I suited for President?
I have ample experience in running events and being in leadership positions
- Led the Harrow Hong Kong branch of the charity (Branches of Hope) for a year, organising Sports Days and community fun days for refugee kids
- Chief editor of Harrow Hong Kong Geographical Journal, managing teams of writers, graphical designers, and editors to deliver an aesthetic magazine
- Food and Nutrition Ambassador (Prefect position) at Harrow Hong Kong, required close liaising with the school food providers to achieve our goal of reducing food waste while improving food experience
