Hi I'm Jing and I'm running for Chair of MechSoc! As Chair of MechSoc, I'll build on the strong foundation laid by the previous committee and focus on three key priorities:
(1) Accessible career opportunities.
Every student in our department should have access to projects, hackathons and industrial events. As the President of Engineering without Borders, I secured several industry projects and events for my society. I hope to bring these opportunities to the department. Additionally, I'll run a Mech Eng summer placement tracker to help all members know what opportunities are available, and when to apply!
(2) Community resources and mentorship.
Just like how we passed ME1 relying on Beatriz's tutorial sheet solutions on MechNet, we need strong community resources so that everyone can thrive! As Chair, I'll work on creating clearer and up-to-date academic resources for everyone's access (hopefully good enough for Dr Antonis Sergis)! These resources will include FAQs from seniors about what to expect for different modules, exam preparation and summer placements!
(3) More relaxing and recreational activities.
I plan to organise more inclusive activities for all members to enjoy. Games night in CAGB with board games and (hopefully) console games! I'll work with the committee to ensure all activities for our society are accessible, inclusive and affordable. Everyone should be able to relax and wind down in MechSoc!
