Hi everyone,

I'm Gurj, a second year mech eng student looking to represent you all as department wellbeing rep! I know that sometimes the course can be overwhelming and I want to be that familiar face that anyone can reach out to.

Currently, the department is very academic focused and while that is good, I feel like there should also be an increase in the amount of support given to students for non academic related issues.

To address this problem, I will host regular wellbeing workshops, where students can come and talk about any concerns or issues they are having, and get some help with anything they need.

I aim to organise more frequent events for all students, to provide a well deserved break from studying and to build on the strong sense of community we already have in Mech Eng. I strive to provide activities that you guys want to do, so I will be happily open to suggestions. I will do my absolute best to organise these ideas, ensuring that they are inclusive.

Another goal of mine is to be the first point of contact for all students, and therefore I will be easily contactable, whether that is through email, text message or even a quick chat in the corridor.

I'm approachable, I'm in the trenches with you all and so if you guys want to go from surviving Mech Eng, to thriving in it, vote for me!
