I’M JACOB and I’m running to be DPE!🐛
AI | STUDY SPACE | PG VOICE | PERSONAL TUTORS | TRANSPARENCY | NETWORK
I've loved being a rep, SO MUCH that I have done it for 3 years avoiding biology that I probably should have been doing… Having been a year, department, and faculty rep, I know how change can be made…
I’ll keep an open‑door approach and build on work to improve mitigating circumstances. I have A LOT of ideas and would love the opportunity to work on them with you all!
WHAT I’VE DONE
- Built an active rep network by helping set up a cross-faculty WhatsApp community to share ideas and best practice.
- Changed the membership of the FoNS student–staff committee so students, not staff, lead the conversation.
- Organised careers panels with alumni, leading to new companies joining the Careers Service work-shadowing scheme.
WHAT I’LL FOCUS ON
- AI:Move from fear of “misuse” to integrating AI as a core learning tool, with clear guidance for students and staff.
- STUDY SPACE:Push for more and better study space in both White City and South Kensington
- POSTGRADUATE VOICE:Support integration of new PG rep roles in Constituent Unions to elevate the visibility of PG reps.
- PERSONAL TUTORS:Audit current training provided; push for compulsory refresher training so support for all students is consistent and reliable.
- TRANSPARENCY:Demystify marking, moderation and feedback processes, and clearly communicate any changes.
- REP NETWORK:Make training more engaging and flexible (e.g. online refreshers/quizzes), and keep reps connected and supported year-round.
