Aayan Qaisar – Candidate for ICSMSU Entertainment Chair

As a first-year Biomedical Science and Management (non-medic) student, I’ve quickly become aware that medicine at Imperial is intense. Lectures are where I first met many of my course friends, but it was social events that really cemented those friendships and built our community.

Nights out, dinners, and medic events give us space to relax, connect across year groups, and build a strong connections that will last for our time at university and beyond.

As Entertainment Chair, I want to build on the strong social culture already within ICSMSU and make it even more inclusive, memorable, and well-attended.

My priorities:

• Strengthen Medic Traditions – Continue and expand staple events like Medic Balls, dinners, and big nights out that bring the whole community together.
• Events That Actually Work for Students – Plan socials at times and venues that students genuinely want, ensuring they’re accessible and well promoted.
• Better Cross-Year Connections – Create events where different year groups can mix, helping first years feel part of the wider medic community earlier.
• A Healthy Balance – Support events that help students decompress and build friendships alongside the demands of the course.

As Entertainment Chair, I want to keep creating the moments where friendships grow and the medic community comes together outside the lecture theatre
