Jack Swires

Hi everyone,

I'm Jack, and I'm running to be your Council Chair next year. I'm currently the president of the RCSU, and have been a member of council for the past two years, discussing and voting on important issues that have been presented to council. I've been involved with the Union for the entire time I've been an Undergraduate, and am very familiar with their processes, systems, and staff. I'm excited to continue being a part of Union Council, and help it to run smoothly.

As council chair, I understand my role is administration and organisation, and to help facilitate student leaders within the Union to make effective change, rather than enforce it myself. I will:

• Continue work to improve transparency of the decisions made by council, including publicity but also advocating for overdue changes to the way council documentation and papers are presented on the website.
• Introduce efficient tracking of current union policy, which not only confidently tracks which policies have expired but also policy dependencies so that the knock-on effects of policy change can accurately and efficiently be dealt with.
• Review the current processes of council, keeping what works, and changing what doesn't.
