Prithvi Shree Shankar
Hello everyone!
I am Prithvi Shree, an MRes student from the Soft Electronic Materials program. From my past few weeks at Imperial, I've noticed how postgrads, especially mature, research-focused, and international students feel left out in social settings. I understand that postgraduate life can be isolating, and many of us struggle to find community or support that truly understands our experiences as queer researchers.
That’s why I’m standing for LGBTQ+ Students: Postgraduate Officer. I want to help create spaces where we feel seen, heard and supported,
If elected, I will:
-
Build inclusive postgraduate spaces where LGBTQ+ students from different departments can connect and form meaningful networks.
-
Listen and advocate for the community by creating open, safe channels to share concerns and by promoting better wellbeing and mental health support tailored to postgrads.
-
Tackle discrimination and champion inclusivity by ensuring all initiatives reflect the diversity of our community, including trans, nonbinary, international, and queer students of colour, and by strengthening protections and accountability across the university.
I wish to ensure that every LGBTQ+ postgraduate feels recognised, not just as a student or researcher, but as a valued part of this community.
