Prithvi Joseph Philip
Hi everyone!
My name is Prithvi. I am the current chair of the society and the founder of the Affordable Team. I am also a third-year mechanical engineer!
I am really excited to debut the team this year! A couple of things I have done to organise the team:
- Spoke to multiple companies about potential projects until finally settling on the current project scope.
- Spoken to many companies in the industry about this project, including the ISPO, Össur, Ottobock and ENABLE Handprints.
- Secured a sponsorship with RS Components to kickstart the project.
Having previously been a member and team lead of the Ankle Team, I have a good idea of how teams operate and communicate, as well as what pitfalls should be avoided. As Chair, I have ensured that there is smooth communication between all the committee members, organised multiple workshops and collaborations. I have many connections in the Prosthetics field and will be in communication with them for both the Affordable Team and Society in general.
This year, I hope to kick-start our project with rapid prototyping and mechanical testing in the Autumn term. Hopefully, have a Pilot model for user testing ready by the Summer term.
I am super excited to see where this project goes and really excited to have you all involved in the team and general society!
