Neurotechnology: Podcast Officer

Hello everyone! I am Serra, a second year Biological Sciences student, and I am excited to apply for the role of Podcast Officer.

I have always been passionate about how science and storytelling can work together to make complex ideas more human and accessible. My research experiences have shaped this perspective deeply. I worked on Cognitive Bias in Artificial Intelligence, exploring how human perception and stereotypes can influence machine learning systems. Later, my research on Novel Behavioral and Pharmacological Therapies for Autism focused on the ethical and social aspects of treatment, questioning how we define “normal” and what empathy means in neuroscience. These projects taught me to see neurotechnology not only as a technical field but as one that deeply connects with psychology and human experience.

Beyond research, I co-founded Reigns of Chains, a podcast and website project that discusses the challenges and triumphs of women in Turkey who are reshaping society by challenging gender roles. Through interviewing guests and recording episodes, I learned how to design narratives, guide conversations, and communicate sensitive topics with clarity and compassion.

As Podcast Officer, I aim to bring together these experiences to create episodes that explore neuroscience, technology, and humanity. I hope to make our podcast a space where curiosity, empathy, and innovation meet, sharing science in a way that truly connects with people.
