Hello everyone! I’m Deniz, and I’m thrilled to stand for Education Officer of the Computational Biology Society. My vision is to bridge biology, chemistry, and artificial intelligence, making our society a place where curiosity meets collaboration:
About me:
- BSc Biochemistry currently doing MSc Digital Chemistry with AI and Automation at Imperial
- Worked in industry at Lonza
- Research at FHNW:
- Schrödinger
- Idorsia
- Syngenta
- Roche
- Novartis
- ETH Zurich
- EPFL
- Large number of start ups and other institution
- Focused on BindCraft and AlphaFold pipline projects.
- Participating in many networking events; seminars, conferences and workshops, for some an untapped network across Swiss academia and industry:
My priorities include:
- Expanding open-source learning!: a shared repository of tutorials, Colab notebooks, and GitHub collaborations (for students to keep)
- Peer-led workshops on molecular modeling, data science, and mini research projects
- Interdisciplinary events linking chemistry, biology, and computational AI communities
- Leading figures in industry and academia in the field sharing their insights from all over the world
- Student-driven innovation sprints and digital hackathons focused on real research challenges
- Collaborations and socials with other societies e.g. MedTech, NeuroTech and many life science societies
Leveraging my network in Switzerland from my time researching, working and studying, I aim to provide tools, tutorials, and guest speakers that align with existing university support, student expertise, and accessible online infrastructure. Ultimately establishing an active repository, hosting interdisciplinary workshops, and strengthening cross-society collaborations within one or more academic year.
Thank you, I would be honored to take the role as your Education Officer.
