Chyi Ricketts

Hello! I’m Chyi, a Master’s student in Cancer Informatics. I’m excited to apply for the position of Education Officer for this society. I believe that Computational Biology is a rapidly expanding field essential for the progression of biological research. Over the past few years, I’ve accumulated experience in this field through labwork, courses, and my undergraduate thesis. Now, I’d love the opportunity to share my knowledge while continuing to learn with a dedicated group.

As Education Officer, I am most excited to organise workshops for both foundational skills and some of my favorite comp biology algorithms: Local/Global Alignment, BWT, and others. My goal would be to make these concepts accessible and exciting to learn. Of course, I’d also love to help organise and participate in the club’s other events such as group coding assignments, seminars, and socials.
