Harvan Bahia
Hi everyone! I’m running for Research Officer because I’m passionate about making research accessible, collaborative, and exciting for all students — regardless of experience level. Research is at the heart of medical progress, and I want to help create more opportunities for us to engage with it meaningfully, from learning the basics to presenting our own work confidently.
Through my experiences as Sponsorship Officer for Vision, I’ve developed strong organizational and communication skills — building partnerships that supported outreach projects and helped bring ideas to life. As Vice President of Marketing for Friends of MSF, I learned how to connect people with causes through creative campaigns and well-planned initiatives. Both roles taught me the value of teamwork, structure, and forward-thinking — qualities I’ll bring to this position.
If elected, I’ll aim to:
-
Organize research workshops and mentoring opportunities that make research more approachable.
-
Build collaborations with departments and societies to showcase student-led projects and research pathways.
-
Create accessible guides and resources to help members navigate research opportunities, applications, and conferences.
-
Support initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion in research, ensuring everyone feels empowered to get involved.
I’m eager to combine my experience, enthusiasm, and organizational skills to help grow a community that celebrates curiosity, collaboration, and innovation. Together, we can make the Society of Research and Academia a hub where ideas flourish and research becomes a shared journey of discovery.
