Hi, I’m Suri, a second-year Medical Biosciences student. I currently collaborate with a PhD student on a project investigating how genetic regulation influences neuronal stem cell differentiation: focusing on pathways implicated in Alzheimer’s disease. This work has allowed me to design experiments, analyse sequencing data, and contribute to a forthcoming paper exploring gene expression markers linked to neurodegeneration. Beyond research, I founded The Vietnam Alzheimer’s Organisation, leading outreach initiatives that merge science with community engagement. We connect genetics with real life, educating families about hereditary risk factors, and designing art-based cognitive projects that help assess and stimulate memory while raising awareness of genetic predispositions to dementia.
As Academic Officer, I want to help our members access those same opportunities. Whether through hands-on workshops, speaker events, or connecting you with researchers who can offer mentorship and project experience. I’ve built strong networks across UCL, Imperial, and King’s College researchers in neurogenetics and stem cell biology, and I aim to bring that network to you. If you’ve ever wondered how to get involved in real research, secure a placement, or simply deepen your understanding of genetics beyond lectures, I’ll make sure you have the guidance and support to get there. Together, we’ll build a society that doesn’t just talk about genetics, we’ll make it the reason you stand out in your degree and career!
