Environmental: Campaign Manager

Hiii everyone! I’m Megumi, a second-year Materials student. I’m running for Environmental Society Campaign Manager because I’m passionate about sustainability and creating meaningful environmental impact (it’s actually why I chose my major).

Before university, I served as a board member of ByeByePlasticBags, where I launched an upcycling initiative turning rejected merchandise into scrunchies, collaborated with schools to host eco-friendly workshops, and gained media coverage for recurring beach cleanups. During my internship, I also introduced a waste-reduction idea by reusing leftover wood chips as hamster bedding.

I want to be part of a community with like-minded goals, especially supporting the society’s current focus on driving divestment and ethical actions, which I believe can create lasting change. I also hope to run campaigns aimed at reducing campus waste through fun, engaging events such as eco pop-ups and sustainability workshops (such as teaching sewing). With proven initiative, teamwork, and advocacy experience, if elected, I’ll do my best to help the society turn environmental goals into real, lasting impact.
