John Young

Game Development: Secretary

Hey everyone! I’m John, a Biological Sciences student who probably spends more time on Unity than in the lab. I joined GameDevSoc because I love how games let science, art, and storytelling collide — from pixel fireflies to roguelike modifiers, I’ve been learning to turn ideas into something you can actually play. Game has always been large part of my life, from my early experience with board games to my adventures in Hyrule, Lordran and Redania. I've competed in multiple game jams and I'm currently working on my own game that would(hopefully) be on steam on day.

With my experiences and passion for game design, I hope to be able to make GameDevSoc a place where everyone — coders, artists, writers, composers — can bring their strange, half-finished, brilliant ideas to life.

As Secretary, I’ll make sure our projects and events stay well-organized and well-communicated, so you can spend less time digging through message threads and more time actually creating. I’ll help maintain clear updates, take proper notes, and keep resources accessible to all members.

More importantly, I want to help showcase what we build together — from short jam entries to ambitious long-term projects. Every prototype, bug, and late-night idea deserves to be shared and celebrated.

Let's make GameDevSoc not just a society, but a creative home for everyone who loves making games.
