Economics: Deputy President

Hi, I am T-Yan, a 3rd Year Materials student running for Economics Society Deputy President. Economics makes the world go round and gaining understanding in the subject is more pertinent than ever with the current global economy. My goal as Deputy President is simple: to maximise our utility as a community of curious economists while ensuring no member feels marginalised.

With experience in multiple committees such as Singapore Society and Climate Entrepreneurs, I have gained invaluable leadership skills in team management and event organisation. Furthermore, my internships in a robotics start-up and a consulting firm have equipped me with financial management and stakeholder engagement skills. My background will allow me to bring a range of perspectives to the Economics committee, helping to efficiently allocate your resources and ensure that all the events run smoothly.

As Deputy President, I hope to work closely with the President and facilitate open communication within the committee. Engagement and community growth are vital at this stage. Thus, I would help seek out high-impact speaker sessions, as well as development of workshops on topics such as financial analysis, markets, and policy that link theory to practice, while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every member can participate in active discussions. Furthermore, establishing industry connections would be key in further growth of the society and I hope to secure as many as possible

Together, we can grow the society and create a community for academic discussions and career opportunities connected to economics :)
