Hello, I'm Snow, a year 1 Economics, Finance and Data Science student.
📣📣What I'll deliver to EconSoc:
🌌Effective and interesting discussions -- guest speakers and joint sessions with other universities and societies
- I'll be inviting guest speakers and promoting joint sessions so we can hear the opinions from all sorts of people.
🌌Raise awareness of issues -- charity and other events
- I'll be planning events where we can engage in actions and become a changemaker.
- This would include charities, talks, social media content, etc.
🌌Prepare for the next step of becoming an economist
- Feel like you can't pursue an economics degree or career because you aren't doing a related course? That's not true!
- I'll be running application workshops for both the next stage of education and careers in economics, and I'll make sure this will be economics specialised.
I believe that Economics, the study of the distribution of scarce resources, is the real solution to many issues. From gender inequality to involution, many social issues we are currently facing are, in fact, all associated with the distribution of resources. Issues arise during the competition for resources, as the current system isn't quite civilised, and humans might not have always chosen the most enlightened path. I wish for a world where not only the competition for resources doesn't put one or more at a disadvantage, but also a world where resources are no longer the requirement for freedom and respect. And Economics is what we need.
