Hi, I’m Micah, a 2nd Year Chemistry student.
I’ve been deeply involved in Outreach at Imperial as a Student Ambassador, a member of the Outreach Black Student Advisory Board, and a STEM Futures alum. With ACS, I delivered school talks and science challenges for pupils aged 13–18. My favourite moment was a student saying, “I’m going to become a doctor because of you.” I replied, “That was already there, I just gave you a little nudge.” because that potential lives in every under-represented young person. That’s why I do this: to show students they can get here and thrive, and to be the role model I didn’t have. So, it’s safe to say I know how outreach works and I’ll use that experience to manage and organise ACS initiatives.
As ACS Outreach Officer, I’ll level up ACStem by bringing in more people and exploring a two-day event. I’ll facilitate ACS school talks with pre-made, school-specific slides where appropriate and quick briefings so you can jump in straight away, so more of us can help out and give back to our communities. I’ll keep our already amazing initiatives running as they are. I’ll push seed-fund applications and make it easy for members to start their own projects, helping at every stage. I’ll measure every event, so we get real feedback and improve.
If this is your vision too, vote Micah.
