Saachi Jain

Hi! I’m Saachi, a 3rd year Geophysics student and I would love to be this year’s Vice-President for the Geophysics Society! Geophysics is fundamental to understanding the Earth, from renewable energy solutions to improved environmental monitoring and effective climate disaster mitigation. As such, I am very passionate about creating more opportunities for students to learn more about and engage with this subject. I am also the Undergraduate Representative for the British Geophysical Association where my goal is to promote geophysics across all education levels, increase its accessibility, and raise awareness about its potential for a multidimensional career.

As VP, I hope to organise specialised geophysics career talks and workshops, plan interactive field trips, and set up mentorship opportunities to support students. Through various leadership roles, I have gained essential time and project management skills to apply while working towards these goals. For example, through my online career talk series, I led panel discussions with diverse industry professionals, learning to build personal connections which I can now do to bring in support from relevant companies and associations.

I can't wait to collaborate with the committee and continue growing the Geophysics Society!
